Flexible displays allow designers to experiment in every way with the shape and capabilities of mobile devices. For example, LG patented the gadget in the form of the most common pen. It is equipped with two screens at the same time and functions as usual smartphones.

How and where LG would be capable of physically fitting all these inside a tiny stylus is beyond us.

The key feature of the stylus are its two displays. It incorporates a small one for app shortcuts, notifications and time while the bigger one is a of the flexible variety. A dedicated button rolls out and retracts the display so you can use it as a conventional smartphone when needed. It can run all the regular apps and can even be used for browsing and texting.

According to the description, LG smartphone-pen has one small display for displaying notifications and quick access to important options, and the second screen, larger, is pulled out of the case to the desired length. With it, you can write, use navigation, watch videos, search for information in the browser - in general, do what is available on a regular smartphone.

The device provides all the necessary sensors: a compass, a gyroscope, a camera and even a fingerprint scanner for unlocking. The most interesting thing is that the pen works for its intended purpose - everything written is transmitted digitally to the paired device.

What's more, the patent hints at an interesting feature that allows the pen to be paired with any smart device like a phone or a tablet. Writing on whichever surface makes the writing appear on the paired device's screen.
