Not all Android smartphones, even quite modern and powerful, immediately receive an upgrade to the next OS version. Sony has announced its plans to upgrade many Xperia to Android 9 Pie. Some smartphones will begin to work under the control of the new operating system very soon - before the end of October 2018.

Sony told which Xperia will upgrade to Android 9 Pie

First of all, the three flagships of the recent past (Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact) will start receiving an update to Android 9 Pie on Oct 26, 2018. Ten days later, the upgrade to Google’s version of the world's most popular mobile operating system, released in August of this year, will begin to be provided for the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium.

Sony notes that the Xperia XA2, Xperia XA2 Ultra and Xperia XA2 Plus will receive an upgrade to Android 9 Pie, but users of these smartphones will have to wait for the new software until March 2019. However, the fact of the upcoming receipt of the next version of the operating system by smartphones is pleasing.
