Users need to update WhatsApp version to the v2.18.301 Android beta update to use the new PiP mode. WhatsApp on Wednesday started rolling out "PiP mode" for viewing videos hosted on selected platforms, for all Android beta users running Android 4.4 and above.

According to WABetaInfo, a fan website that tracks WhatsApp, the PiP feature is being introduced for all Android beta users that would allow users to play videos hosted on platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and Streamable right within WhatsApp.

Picture in picture mode is a special form of multi-window mode mainly use for video playback. It lets the user watch a video in a small window pinned to a corner of the screen whereas navigating between apps or browsing content on the main screen.

PiP mode enables users to watch YouTube video inside the WhatsApp. You can watch YouTube videos from the re-sizable floating window and also continue with the conversation. Whenever a user sends a link to a YouTube video, one can watch the video without closing the WhatsApp or going out of the application altogether.
