The information that Huawei is developing its own operating system to reduce its dependence on Google turned out to be genuine. It is reported by the German resource Winfuture, citing sources in the industry.
However, the Chinese manufacturer’s proprietary platform is not an alternative to Android, but Wear OS and will be used in the new generation of branded smartwatches, which will be released next week at the same event with Huawei Mate 20.
Future Huawei smartwatches will be called Watch GT. Their hardware will be based on the Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipset, manufactured by Qualcomm specifically for wearable electronics. A battery with a capacity of 420 mAh, which, according to rumors, will provide them with up to two weeks of work without recharging, will be responsible for the battery life.
This is a serious indicator that Huawei has achieved thanks to the silicon components in the battery and the high energy efficiency of the proprietary operating system.
Huawei Operating System
Despite the decision of Huawei to abandon Wear OS, it will not affect the functionality of the Watch GT. According to the interlocutors, Winfuture, the novelty, as well as competing solutions, will send notifications to the user, transfer incoming calls, measure pulse and steps, as well as monitor sleep phases and act as a navigator thanks to the built-in GPS module that will allow the Watch GT to be the most independent device and will not let you stray from the route.Huawei does not disclose details about its new operating system, although it indirectly confirmed the fact of its creation. According to company representatives, many developments are underway within its walls, and its own software platform is no exception.
Another thing is that not all products reach consumers, losing commercial value in the process of working on them, which, apparently, clearly does not apply to the Wear OS alternative.
