Google today introduced Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Consumers did not learn anything new about the devices, as they were still known long before the presentation itself.

In my opinion, Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL turned out to be quite good smartphones. Google has adequately improved the quality of cameras, added new features. But is it a good new Pixel in comparison with competitors?

I consider the main competitors are the iPhone XR and OnePlus 6T. Pixel 3 and 3 XL are identical in all respects, except for the display diagonal, dimensions and battery capacity.

Smartphones have the same camera so Pixel 3 can be safely considered a full-fledged flagship. The Pixel 3 and iPhone XR camera modules are very similar. You could even say that they are almost identical:

And if before Google managed to stay ahead of Apple thanks to the HDR + mode, in the case of the new iPhones, this superiority no longer exists.


However, all these numbers, you can verify for yourself that the results of the Pixel 3 (XL) and iPhone XR (XS) cameras are identical by viewing the video comparison:

In some scenes, Pixel 3 (XL) shows itself a little better, in some, on the contrary, XR (XS) shows more attractive results, but overall the result is the same.

Thus, Pixel lost its main advantage over its competitors this year. What else can attract the new flagship of Google? The speed of the flagship OnePlus ahead of the "pixels".

And the processor in Pixel 3 is already outdated. Snapdragon 845 will be relevant until the end of this year, after which the market will feature devices on the new flagship processor Qualcomm.

Moreover, Huawei and Apple have already shown new processors. The iPhone XR, by the way, uses the Apple A12, superior to Snapdragon 845.

Thanks to Project Treble, owners of many Android devices along with owners of Pixel devices can easily install the latest updates. So what is the superiority of Pixel 3 over all others, including the main competitors - the iPhone XR and OnePlus 6T? Answer: there is no superiority.

Google Pixel 3 is a good smartphone that will offer much to consumers, but competitors are not worse and even better.
